A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of A Member Of The Special Forces

My friend Alan is a member of the Special Forces. Members of the Special Forces are highly trained to perform unconventional, often high-risk missions. I saw him last week after a long deployment to Afghanistan and he was a different person than the one I had known years before. He told me:

“I am prepared and ready to fulfill my obligation as a soldier of the United States! I recite this mantra every morning before I get out of bed. As soldiers we undergo extensive training and frequent drilling. We are put through exercises in various simulations of actual battle, so that we will be ready when the enemy attacks. Obviously, to wait until the attack and then prepare ourselves would be suicidal. Therefore, the prepartions must come long before the attack. Preparing for the enemy is the same as waiting for the negative voice inside my head that is seeking to destroy my serenity. The negative voice is a most cunning enemy, with a huge array of tactics and singlemindedness of purpose. The negativity never tires and has infinite patience, lurking in stealth and waiting for an opportunity to attack just like the physical enemy. Confronted with such a persistent and formidable foe, a person must be prepared at all times. With that being said I begin this preparation as soon as I awaken expressing my gratitude towards my Higher Power for another day of life. The acknowledgment helps me center myself and dedicate myself to serving my Higher Power and my fellow countrymen. This further increses my capacity to resist the destructive maneuvers of my negative inner voice as I train my mind and accustom my body in how to think and act. This helps me maintain a state of alertness and preparedness against the attempts of my negative inner voice to mislead me.”

I was so impressed with his dedication and the manner in which he trains his mind on a daily basis in order to prepare not only for battle but for life on a daily basis. I bought him Special Forces Rings in commemoration of his service in the Armed Forces gallantly defending our Country. The rings are distinctly designed with the official insignia of the US Special Forces. The sides of the rings contain finely sculpted US Special Forces emblems as well. He was so touched by my generosity, he said he will treasure it as a keepsake for generations to come. God Bless Alan and all of our troops! The time for world peace is now!!!

Get Rid Of Unwanted Tenants!

Ok Ladies… I’m a bit nutty today so please forgive me. Believe it or not, I have a new tenant and I am not a happy camper. Besides being new, she moved right in without any rent or security and I can’t seem to get rid of her. I am so frustrated and was wondering if you have any suggestions for me. Let me start at the beginning and give you the facts so you can give me an educated opinion. Twenty-eight years ago, I was a beautiful, young and slender woman. Then it happened…I found myself pregnant and lo and behold, the changes started. Okay, I did lose all of the weight after the first baby but less than a year later I found myself pregnant again and the belly popped before it even had time to get back into its flat little shell. After that I had a short reprieve and returned back to my hot little body and BANG: pregnant again! I was now 5 years older and taking the weight off was getting harder and harder but I did it and was very happy in my skin. My children were getting older and easier to handle and I thought I was finished with babies and BANG: pregnant again! Once again, I lost the weight but my belly was a bit loose from all of the pregnancies and weight gain. Back to my unwanted tenant…she has taken up residence in my belly and simply refuses to leave. I am just beside myself and am looking every which way to evict her but nothing seems to work. In the mean time, I found Lower Belly Shape Wear and it seems to be making her quite uncomfortable. I have to admit it is very comfortable and I don’t even notice my belly anymore. In fact, I seem to have forgotten about my tenant well. I may even decide to let her stay rent free…LOL. I will let you know in a few weeks but until then check out the Shape Wear at Rush Industries if you need something sexy and comfortable with support for those extra pounds or just to give you more control under your clothing. My favorite piece is the Seamless High Waist Thong Shaper. It is sooo sexy!!!

Did You Hear About Obama’s Trip To Israel?

Finally! President Barak Obama took his first trip as President to Israel. I witnessed Obama’s arrival live on TV as he landed in Israel and walked off Air Force One. It was heartwarming to watch President Obama stand with the American Military and Israeli Military while they played the national anthems of both countries. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was there along with President Shimon Peres. The Prime Minister and Obama met for more than two hours on the first day and offered a “good cop, bad cop” approach to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Obama called for more diplomacy while endorsing Israel’s right to defend itself as it sees fit. It is a historic visit, part of a Middle East swing that President Obama said was intended to assess the seemingly intractable impasse between the Israelis and Palestinians over how to live next door to each other…. Other important issues discussed included the civil war in neighboring Syria. There are unconfirmed reports of chemical weapons being used in the conflict, which if true, Obama labeled a “game-changer,” regarding limited US involvement so far. President Obama plans to tackle many issues in Israel. President Obama sought to assure the Israelis of his commitment to their security and strengthen what has been a strained personal and working relationship with the Prime Minister.

I am optimistic, as always, that relations between the two countries will improve. The leaders announced new talks on extending US military assistance to Israel for another 10 years past the current agreement that expires in 2017. Speaking of the US Military, I heard President Obama came bearing gifts for the Prime Minister, President Peres and members of the military. He brought Navy Military Wallets that Michelle personally picked out from Rush Industries. The Israeli soldiers were touched by the President and Michelle’s generosity and reciprocated with Israeli trinkets for Michelle, Sasha and Malia.

Let’s continue to pray for peace not only in the Middle East but in the world! Shalom!

9-11 A Day That Will Never Be Forgotten

On 9-11, our country was changed forever. I was on my way to work with my husband on a magnificent sunny September morning listening to the local radio station. All of a sudden we heard a plane crashed into the World Trade Center. I could not understand what I was hearing at first – I sat there in disbelief thinking I misunderstood what I was hearing until I heard another plane crashed and then I knew in my gut that we were under a terrorist attack. I could not believe we were hit by a series of coordinated Al Qaeda attacks, killing almost 3,000 innocent Americans in cold blood. I remember walking around in a state of shock that day, calling school to make sure my children were okay and just feeling a sense of horror, fear, grief and sadness. I went through the day’s motions with a sense of numbness, disbelief, confusion… It seem unfathomable that 19 terrorists hijacked four planes. We frantically tried calling all of our loved ones who were working in the City that day. We watched in horror as the towers collapsed and cried as we saw people leap from the towers to their deaths in a desperate attempt to escape the flames. We listened and cried in shock to the phone calls of the passengers on board the hijacked planes and wept uncontrollably as we heard them tell their families they loved them one last time. The day was a mix of grief, shock, sorrow, fear and anger.

However on that day, there were feelings of pride and unity that arose from the flames. We heard and read the heroic stories and watched with pride as ordinary citizens went above and beyond the call of duty to help their fellow Americans. As horrific as 9-11 was, it reminded many of us of what makes this country so great. I bought an American Flag Patch from Rush Industries and sewed it on my jean jacket as a tribute to all of those who lost their lives and all of those who rose to the occasion to help our fellow Americans.

“True courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the willingness to walk through it.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”

What Is Integrative Nutrition? Find Out Today From My Friend Pam…

Have you heard the term Integrative Nutrition? Do you think it is the newest fad? As usual, I did some research on the topic to enlighten my readers.

I discovered that the practice of integrative nutrition takes a holistic approach to wellness recognizing that the foundation for optimal health and healing begins with a health promoting diet. We all know our bodies are biochemical environments and everything we put into our bodies in terms of the foods we eat, alcohol we drink, medications and so on make a difference. Our choices also determine, to a great extent, if we are moving towards wellness or away from it. It may also determine whether we age well or poorly and what, if any chronic diseases we will face. Integrative nutritionists address heart disease, cancer treatment/survival support, vegetarian eating, healthy aging, anti-inflammatory diet, food sensitivities, diabetes, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, stress reduction and weight management.

My very dear friend Pam is an Integrative Nutritionist. I treated myself to a consultation which began with an assessment of my current diet and how it was impacting my health. We discussed all that brought me to where I am today including my family and health histories and we discussed how to best minimize any current risks. Pam told me that therapeutic nutrition interventions can often prevent, reverse or delay the onset of disease.

Have you ever spent any time talking with someone about your health and received the personal attention you deserve? Why not do something nice for yourself today and give Pam a call. She is kind, compassionate, intelligent, caring, understanding and extremely professional. She will coach you to create a happy, healthy and less stressful life in a way that is flexible, fun and free of denial and discipline. Pam will also will also help you to make gradual, lifelong changes that enable you to reach your current and future health goals.

I Gave The Steering Wheel To My Higher Power

Have you ever heard of a Hamsa? I don’t think anyone really knew what it was before Madonna and other Hollywood starlets started studying Kabbalah. Madonna is now often seen sporting a Hamsa and in fact may even have one tattooed somewhere on her body.

The word Hamsa is Arabic and the Hamsa is a palm-shaped amulet once only popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa, and commonly used in jewelry and wall hangings. It is now a universal symbol derived from an ancient symbol of protection and gives the energy of unconditional love and is believed to provide defense against the evil eye. Therefore, many societies view it as a sign of protection.

I’m feeling very spiritual today and would like to share some of my thoughts with my faithful readers: Before we can plan the first step on any journey, we must find out where we are…

In all aspects our lives are a journey toward a destination, one fitting to our purpose, our special gifts, and our particular needs. Each and every day contributes to our journey, carrying us closer to our destination. However, the route is often circuitous and we get stranded or waylaid by our selfish desires, by the intrusion of our controlling egos. It helps to reflect on the progress we’ve made toward our destination, the steps we’ve taken that have unknowingly contributed to our journey. For myself, I have found that the easiest steps have been the ones I took in partnership with my Higher Power whom I choose to call God. I have discovered that I am exactly where I need to be today. My experiences through the journey are like points on a map; some them are rest steps and others resemble high-speed straight-aways. Our journey to our destination is not always smooth but the more we let our Higher Power sit in the driver’s seat, the easier will be our ride. I have vowed to plan my journey with my Higher Power’s help and I know my ride will be smooth as long as I keep my faith and leave the wheel in his hands.

To feed my spiritual soul I went on a search for a Stainless Steel Hamsa Macrame Bracelet. I found a really chic one at Rush Industries. In fact, all my friends loved it so much they are all wearing them now. Higher Power, thank you for driving me to Rush Industries!

I struggle with self acceptance 24/7. I truly mean 24/7. Even if I wake up in the middle of the night, I think about what I ate the day before and feel my stomach as if my self worth depends on how much fat I have. If you can relate to me, please, please try and do something to stop the vicious self-loathing cycle and learn how to love yourself. I don’t know about you but I want to stop my obsessive thinking and ‘live’ the carefree life, I was born to live. Higher Power, please help me, guide me, give me a sign that you are here and want me to recover from this malady of self-torture. I have reached the point of desperation and am on my knees waiting for my sign.

Wow… Higher Power, thank you for sending me the message through Dr. King “The Time Is Always Right To Do What Is Right”. My time is now, to do what is right and I am finally on the road to recovery…

A Wonderful Surprise For A Special Military Couple!

I heard a heartwarming story on the news last week. A veteran military couple will be tying the knot in style for FREE!!! Believe it or not they won a free wedding in a contest for veterans. My heart was touched. After all, these men and women risk their lives for us each and every day, the least we could do is pay them back in small, meaningful ways.

The contest was sponsored by small business owners and local people from their community. The future groom was wounded in Afghanistan and is the recipient of a purple heart and his fiance is an army veteran. Following two tours of duty in Iraq and one in Afghanistan the Marine Sargeant, a Purple Heart recipient, was chosen as the winner of the free wedding contest. The Marine Sargeant was gravely hurt by an improvised explosive device that struck his Humvee during his last tour of duty in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, following weeks of infection, his left leg was amputated but that did not deter the young seargeant from coming home to propose to his long time sweetheart. Obviously, she said “YES”!

Friends of theirs who knew they were struggling financially saw an advertisement for the contest and entered them without their knowledge. When they received a phone call that they won, they thought it was a prank and it wasn’t until the local TV station showed up at their home that they realized their friends were telling the truth. The contest prize included a bridal gown, reception for 75 people, flowers, DJ, video, photographer, party favors and hotel rooms for the couple and their out of town guests. It is all absolutely free of charge, including gratuities.

The town is proud to honor this couple and to give back to the military community and help one lucky couple start their lives together in a very special way.

Why not send them Patriotic Military Gifts from Rush Industries as an added bonus for their wedding. I bought the young couple Stars & Stripes Watches as a token of my appreciation for the time they served and continue to serve our Country!!! God Bless All Of Our Troops!

Until The Miracle Occurs…

My friend Beth is a changed person from the bitter, resentful and angry person she used to be. We met for coffee last week and I inquired about the drastic change in her personality:

Beth: “We learn by watching others; when we watch others, we learn how to ‘act as if’ For example: watch a patient person and then ‘act as if’. Result? We potentially will become a patient person in time. Try watching how a good listener listens and ‘act as if’ to learn how to listen. Over time, one realizes we’re really listening. Watch people who have faith and ‘act as if’ and presto, over time we become spiritual people. Try asking your Higher Power to help you find your Higher Power in the people and events of the day ahead. The action I choose today: I will ‘act as if’ God, my Higher Power is standing next to me throughout the day.

How powerful is that? Life is so hectic and filled with bumps along the way but my faith in a Higher Power guides me through the bumps. I never was a person who looked for God in my life. I basically didn’t even think about it until…. My daughter Jenny was a typical teenage girl but there were small changes which we didn’t notice until… We received a call… Jenny had fainted and EMS was on the way. Sheer panic permeated through my soul. Jenny was in a coma by the time I found her in ICU. My family and I cried and cried expecting the worst, not comprehending what happened to our beautiful angel. A hospital Chaplain stopped by and began reciting prayers. I felt nothing and in fact, was annoyed by his presence. He said: ‘Beth, God can carry you through this if you just surrender, find your inner strength and look for Him. Just try.’ I was numb, terrified and emotionally spent and simply surrendered. Something just snapped inside and I felt a sense of something within. Sound hokey? It was but I made a decision to ‘act as if’! I found my Higher Power and let my heart and soul cry out in pain until… A MIRACLE occured… The doctor appeared and said Jenny woke up. He had no explanation how she defied death but said, ‘God works in mysterious ways!’

We didn’t know Jenny developed an eating disorder. People judged us and wondered how we didn’t notice the changes in Jenny before it was almost too late. Denial is a dangerous tool; we are educating ourselves and learning to watch for red flags. I hope to never be in a dire situation again but know my Higher Power will be there as long as I am open and willing… He will guide me through.”

I was quite impressed with Beth’s transformation, I bought her Women’s Stainless Steel Jewelry from Rush Industries, a Heart Shaped Footprints Prayer Pendant and a Golden Footprints Prayer Ring with a card: “Your courage and transformation is an inspiration. Wishing you the strength to pass your newfound faith forward to all until….the miracle occurs…”

Knocks Your Socks Off With Non-Skid Water Walkers

I am blessed to still have my parents… My Mom is turning 80 in a couple of months and my Dad is 85. Unfortunately my Dad has dementia but fortunately he still knows who I am and his face lights up whenever he sees me. We have a very special relationship, I am the only girl and the love he feels for me shines through whenever he sees me. I feel the same way about him and melt like a little girl whenever I see him. He gives me a big kiss and just wraps me in his arms. I can’t explain the feeling but I have never experienced love like this from anyone else in my life. By the way, I think my Mom is a bit jealous but she would never admit it lol.

Anyway, there I go again getting off topic. In addition to working full-time plus and taking care of my own family, my life revolves around taking my parents to doctor appointments at least once a week some weeks as much as four to five times. In fact, I often feel as if I am an only child because my brothers never seem to be available to help out. I’m sure you sense the resentment I am feeling… such a challenge for me. The few times I can’t go and one of my brothers says he can do it, my mother yells at them and says NO. It is so frustrating for me because if she goes by herself she never comes home with the correct information and is confused and anxious. My job is never ending and I often receive calls early in the morning and late at night. I am constantly worried about them but I do the best I can. I bought them Non Skid Shower Shoes a couple of months ago because I was worried about them falling in the bathroom and getting hurt. After all, the elderly are prone to falls and injuries. I take whatever precautions I can to protect them. Don’t you know I was so worried about them that I neglected to take care of myself. Ha ha, actually it is not funny at all. I was rushing like a maniac to get to their house for a 7 AM doctor’s appointment and I slipped in the shower and almost cracked my head open. My husband heard me scream and came rushing in to see what happened. Thank goodness I have a sense of humor. I burst into tears and hysterics simultaneously and realized I should have bought a pair of Non-Skid Water Walkers for myself and for my husband. I ordered two pairs for each of us from Rush Industries. We wear them at home and leave a pair in our lockers at the gym. So much for worrying about the elderly. A lesson for all: Take care of yourself first! Then worry about others…..
